Posted - 01/09/2012 : 09:58:52 Hi Jill I love the underlay feature and use it a lot. I am not good at drawing on the pattern grid, so I sketch an outline on paper or find an image then import it as an underlay to trace-over with colour blocks. I find it most helpful for outlines and shapes to keep proportions. I've just finished a chart of a circus and found it much easier to chart the animals with an outline beneath the grid. |

Posted - 01/03/2012 : 15:17:03 From what I understand, it is sometimes used to underlay a pattern that needs to be converted to PCStitch. By underlaying the graphic image (jpg) to match the size of the grid, you can easily see what symbols to put in which blocks.
I've heard of that and it is a reasonable idea (for working copies of patterns or if you have permission) but I've never tried it myself. I don't use this feature normally.
