Hi :)
I just upgrated to version 10, (10.00.07) and first of all it took over an hour to download ! I'm using a good connection so that's not it.
After installing, it takes over a minute just to open.....and then not responding.....
Is it like that just for me or anyone else having that problem ?

Thanks :)
Gerda

Hello,

This is Troy Riegle with M&R Technologies, Inc. I am working on this issue.

First, I want to apologize for the trouble. You are not the only person having this problem. We just released version 10, so we have had a huge number of people downloading and running the new version within the past few weeks. Its running fine for almost everyone, but I have had 7 customers send us a note about this problem, or something similar. Basically the splash screen comes up, but then the software seems to lock up. In your case, the slowness may be related.

The problem on my end is that I can not recreate the problem in-house. I am wondering if you might be able to help me to find where the problem is.

Please let me know if you would like to be a part of this procedure. Anyone having a lock-up issue can drop me an email.

Sincerely,
Troy Riegle

Yes you can change it to PCStitch 9 without uninstalling it. I suggest you do so until you hear from Mark. He is unavailable this week but should respond next week.

All you need to do is right click on ANY PCStitch pattern and move to the right when the mouse is over "Open Width". Then move to the bottom of that list and select "SChoose Default Program".

Here you have a bit of a problem but it may be easy to choose. First, make sure the box is checked to "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file". Now both 9 and 10 have the same description of just "PCStitch". You should see 2 of them, one is kind of highlighted with a light blue background. Select the "other" one and click "OK". That should open the file in 9 and give PCStitch 9 "ownership" of the .pat extension. It MIGHT change your icon but that's a minor point at this stage.

This might keep you going until Mark answers your questions.

Good Luck,

Diane

Have installed it again, with no change :(
It takes forever in opening up, and then no response......
If I want to open a pattern, version 10 is the default, and I can't change it to 9 without uninstalling again.....but then I have lost the money I paid for it :(

Gerda,

First of all. Uninstalling and re-installing would have been the next step I would have recommended. However, you do not need to re-download. Just use the file you downloaded before.

No, you should not have to get a new unlock code. Most likely, you will not have to re-do the unlock code at all.

I emailed him last night (my time) and haven't heard back. I un-installed the program last night after turning version 9 on without a problem. Am downloading version 10 again (now on snaaaaiiiiillllll speed, 15 minutes into download, 3 hours left)
Will I be needing another unlock code since I've used it on the one I unistalled ??

Gerda,

Check with Mark on this.

I noticed that PCStitch 8 and 9 both took a long time to load. I was impressed that 10 took such a short time. If you have a lot of floss palettes, I've noticed that does affect the load time.

Other than that, contact Mark (his email is in the thread announcing 10). Give him your configuration (OS, processor speed, memory ...) That may help him figure it out.

Hey Dragonlair :)

Thanks for your reply :)
I rebooted, and then opened PCS.....still took a long time (timed it and it was almost 2 minutes, not 1 like I said before)
So I downloaded the program again (it took just a few minutes this time) installed it again, but it still takes almost 2 minutes to open up.
The "Welcome to PC Stitch" sign, where you see the hand stitching, is just frozen on top of every window you open.
When installing v.10 it automatically becomes default, so when I open a pattern it takes a looooooooooong time.
I really need this fixed, I paid for an upgrade, need it to be a upgrade, not a downgrade ;)

Gerda,

The download time can vary. I have been known to have it take a long time to download and never did figure out why. It may have been the time of day - the server may simply have been overloaded.

I was at 10.00.04 and didn't know it had upgraded. I'm upgrading as I am typing and it has already completed the download and is just about ready to restart PCStitch 10.

I'm getting normal access. I suggest you try a reboot and then try PCStitch 10 again. If that doesn't work, go to the site and download the full version and install it. The download should be MUCH faster this time.

Good Luck,

Diane
