Running PCS Pro 9.00.016 on Vista 32.

Is there some magic incantation that results in backstitches within a text block? I've tried the auto-backstitch tool and just plain-old backstitching ... to no avail.

You have to come OUT of text mode (to backstitch mode) and it works. I just did a test. I also have Vista 32 and PCS 9.00.16. My Vista is Ultimate SP2.

You're right, as usual. Plain-old backstitching works, but it would sure be nice if the auto-backstitch tool did too!

Thanks.

It does, Cindy. What you have to do is merge it into the background while you're still in text mode. The text is considered an "object", not a bunch of stitches. Once it's in the background, it is just a bunch of stitches and auto-backstitch works!

Thanks, again, Dragonlair. I didn't notice the "merge to background" option, nor did I understand its importance.
