Hi,
My second question is about color reduction and orphan colors. I noticed, like most programs, when you import a photo you will get orphan stitches... you know those one or two stitch colors. These are really annoying. In the last pattern I made, I had 10 or 12 colors with less than 5 stitches. So I reduced the colors by 10. Rather than getting rid of the orphan stitches it nixed some colors that had more stitches and were more relevant to my design. So I must have done something wrong.
Question, what did I do wrong? How do I reduce colors in such a way to get rid of orphan stitches.
Second question about orphan stitches, is there a way of setting up the program so it will not create them in the first place, say like telling it not to create any colors with less that 10 or whatever number of stitches, and rather use the next nearest one on the palette?

Ok.. Since no one was able to answer this on the board, I called tech support at the 800 number.. and FYI If anyone else come across this problem here is the answer I got. The woman on the phone was really helpful.
She said that when the program reduces colors it doesn't judge which colors to reduce based on the number of stitches, but rather on which colors have a closer color in the pallet to convert to. For example you could have 500 stitches of ultra light blue and 500 stitches of ultra light baby blue (or something like that) and have 1 stitch of cobolt blue. It's going to reduce the 500 stitches of the two close blues before it reduces the 1 stitch of the blue that is more different.
I asked if there was a way to set the software to either change the orphans to the next nearest regardless of the difference (which we can always undo if we don't like it)....or a way to set the program to avoid creating them in the first place but she said no there was not. But she wrote down my suggestion to review with the program staff.
I also asked about a question I did not post on the board yet, about the when you make a custom pallet for a project, and you wish to add a color from that pallet to your design so you list the flosses available, it gives you a listing of the full 400+ floss colors (in the case of DMC)... rather than just the pallet you are working with. This means if you don't keep a list of your available pallet colors on a separate sheet of paper you could accidentally using a color off your pallet without knowing it. She said there was no way to set it for that either. But she would add that to the list for new software review.
I asked her when a new update would be coming out, but she had no idea on that. It is my understanding that she said there was some discussion on if there should just be an update or a totally new release, and they were still in the discussion/design phases of it all.
Anyway... it got me thinking. If you have any things you think would be helpful to the next revision of the product, it might be the right time to drop them an email. If they see enough of us who are using the product have the same suggestions or issues they might make a change that will help us all.

Hello Mikki!
To avoid the orphan stitches all you can do is to remove them, if necessary, or merge them with other closer colors. You have to do it by hand.

| I to have the same problem with orphan stitches when using PC stitch Pro, so I've gone back to using my old PC Stitch 6 instead, it allows me to delete a color but to change it to the closest matching colour |

If all your confetti stitches are of the same color (or all in a given area are of the same color), you can "replace" them en-mass to a similar color so you don't have to do it individually. Just mark the area and say to replace that color with another color.
